When I got on the podcast I talked about how many people you see handcuffed and the cops say they had a good reason to do it. Well, they don’t always have good reasons. In a “takedown” or traffic stop there is an implicit demand for money. Normally the cops are waiting for the right moment, but as you hear the video from the squad car dashboard you can see many drivers not responding to the officer. Drivers often respond by sticking their hand through the open window of the car and flailing the money around while the cop keeps yelling, trying to get the driver to open the door and put the money in his or her car.
