From black to white: Adele's pantsuit style and Oprah's lasting legacy

Adele wore three very different looks in one week in London but the most powerful look was when she chose to wear a white pantsuit to her appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” As The Atlantic wrote about Adele’s appearance on the program, “The white pantsuit ― the paradigm of the powerful women ― was not only the pantsuit Adele wore but also the pantsuit of our time.”

Adele’s appearance on the program was actually her first sit-down interview since releasing her album “25” last November. According to The Atlantic, Oprah brought up the very high hopes people had for the record, and what he felt those hopes were based on.

Oprah: Did you know it was going to sell this well?

Adele: I did not. But I had this feeling because I felt the beginning and the end of the record but I didn’t know what the middle would be like.

Oprah: Like it was the end of your life and the beginning?

Adele: Yeah, it was a big start but, you know, he’s so brilliant and he’s so good with the songs and I guess I was thinking that I was, like, moving forwards and backwards. I had never been in this situation and I was like: wow, a real beginning.

Oprah: That’s interesting because the part of your life that Oprah was referring to wasn’t the years you spent around the British royals, was it?

Adele: I think so. You know, my parents worked, my brother works as well, so it’s a life we had and it was kinda nice.

Because here I am, this is just, like, normal for me.
