Last summer I posted about the ride sharing start-up stock Rivian Automotive – but it got out of hand and I was asked for my contact details. That was on social media and so while I thought it was going to be an annoyance, I still gave it a shout out on Twitter. Within hours, they had recruited me as their North American Ambassador to present its new electric electric SUV, the Summit in May.
After the tech crash, Rivian made the decision to address the inequities of a world that had not made room for all the people born on the planet: we all needed to share the earth. The Rivian electric SUV is the start.
When we first watched the film “Electric Car” and the boy who dreamt of the electric vehicle and more earth to share at the end, I remember being pained and my heart breaking at the same time. Rivian was cool, sleek and their vision could be farsighted and sustainable in the long run. Now I have to thank Rivian for the opportunity to be a part of that story, to tell the story of this coming, record breaking electric car with Rivian to the world, through the Rivian Nation member bloggers, journalists, stores, and select US ambassadors.

There are so many good stories in the Rivian electric vehicle coming in 2018, but we can point to three in particular. First, it’s a sophisticated road trip car with well suited cargo space as well as fuel-efficient performance. Rivian has been talking about its “light-weighting” and “coating” technology and its cylinder deactivation technology, but its performance as demonstrated in the ultra-safe Rivian Trophy Concept which was followed by the Rivian Rivian Rivsport will catch the attention of the world. Second, as if Rivian’s excellent lightweight tuning didn’t get you enough, Rivian have also created an entirely new “factory” engine with 1300-Lbf torque that has the ability to power cars up to the range of Rivian’s 400 kW (726 hp) electric SUV. Rivian has also developed a unique “Hercules” oil cooler, which allows Rivian to run its 300 kWh motor without using oil in its internal combustion engine. Finally, Rivian has no emissions penalties and, despite Rivian being the new “honey badger”, Rivian is also clean in its manufacture.
It looks like the Rivian electric SUV’s payload, range and performance may have enticed the Audi showroom, “We’ve loved the Rivian Rivsport Concept since we first saw it back in 2015 and we cannot wait to see what they bring to the market.”
