Chris Daughtry’s wife posted a direct message on Instagram this weekend that blasted media reports over a violent scene outside their home that claimed their daughter’s death was a case of murder-suicide.
In the message, Daughtry’s wife, Angela, urges people to disregard media reports because they are “allegations, unreliable and inaccurate.”
“Out of respect for my family we ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time,” she said in the Instagram post.
“The last thing we need is comments from people who have never met our little angel and think they are the only ones who should know the truth about what happened that night.”
The message was posted two days after an arrest was made in Franklin County, Georgia, after a standoff involving Daughtry’s father, Larry Daughtry, and a police officer at the couple’s family home.
According to The Ledger-Enquirer, Larry Daughtry, 70, shot himself in the chest while holding a pistol to his head while Angela Daughtry was in the garage. Police were called after Larry Daughtry was reported to be suffering from mental problems.
While Angela Daughtry’s message has since been deleted, it was captured by Cosmopolitan.com.
