On any given day, what complaints are you getting about your phone service? Even if you’re just using AT&T, your average customer could be in for an unpleasant surprise: The Mobile Services Sector, which includes all types of mobile phone service, racked up more than 5.5 million complaints (of more than 210 million) in the first six months of 2018. AT&T topped the list with more than 1.3 million gripes, including complaints about cell phones, wireless roaming and international calls.

But this is a high number for any one mobile carrier. What the numbers really show is just how competitive the marketplace has become and how much folks are still having problems with their phone service.

A blizzard of complaints from one major provider would undermine the recent efforts to improve the customer service landscape.
